Socks proxy works when you can access machine B directly from machine A (normally your PC). Two possible scenarios: 1. You have used VPN so that both your PC and machine B are in the same VPC. My post is an alternative to VPN. 2. Machine B has both public and private network addresses. Socks proxy works, but such a setup is rare as it is not secure.
